THE SIX OF CUPS, LORD OF PLEASURE
Sun in Scorpio, Sun in Tiphareth
One of your allies, a dwarf, is holding a golden cup containing a white lily. We are not sure if the little girl has given the flower to him or if he is about to hand it to her. The dwarf seems to be savoring the sweetness of the flower. In this simple act of giving, the little girl, accepting and innocent, gazes in wonder at the flower and the dwarf. The influences of the Sun and Scorpio are present here. The Sun is associated with the sixth sphere on the Tree of Life, the sphere of the vision of harmony and the Higher Self. The transformation, associated with Scorpio, is, on the surface at least, simple: To enter the kingdom of heaven, you must become as a little child, innocent and trusting, receptive to divine wisdom. The dwarf, though adult, is obviously different from other adults, and might inspire fear for that very reason, but the little girl trusts and accepts him. Indeed, she might trust him more than she would a normal adult precisely because of his childlike appearance. The significance of the act is that, despite appearances, the heart is open. The interchange is a simple, wondrous act of trust and acceptance, of giving and receiving, which reveals a state of radical innocence that prevails through even the harshest and strangest experiences--an open reciprocation between the Higher Self and the lower personality, as well as between the “self” and everything that is “other.”
